Matthew Gardner, CMEngNZ, CPEng
Founder / Director / Natural Resources Engineer
Matthew completed a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours at the University of Canterbury. He has worked in the field of Water Resources since 2006. Formerly employed by Greater Wellington Regional Council as well as URS New Zealand Ltd, he has a wealth of experience within both the public and private sectors.
​
He is a big picture thinker that can visualise problems from a wide range of angles to help find a solution to any problem. He prides himself in his problem solving abilities and is always looking for a new challenge.
​
Matthew is currently based in ÅŒtautahi / Christchurch in Aotearoa / New Zealand.
Bilu Susan Babu
Civil / Water Resources Engineer
Susan is a postgraduate in Geospatial Science and Technology from the University of Canterbury. Originally from India, she completed her Masters in Technology in Civil Engineering with specialization in Remote Sensing and GIS from National Institute of Technology (NIT) Karnataka. Prior to working for Land River Sea Consulting, she was working as a civil engineering lecturer.

She is currently working in our Christchurch office working on a wide range of projects including Optical Bathymetry, Drone Surveying, GIS Mapping and processing as well as rapidly expanding her skillset in hydraulic modelling.
​
Outside of work, you can often find her enjoying a book or travelling and exploring new places.
Ujwalkumar Kapade
Graduate Engineer / Water Resources
Ujwal holds a postgraduate degree in geoinformatics from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Karnataka. Before joining Land River Sea Consulting, he gained experience at PSU Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited as a civil engineering Graduate apprentice for a year.
Presently based in India, Ujwal is proficient in various GIS software and has hands-on experience with tools like HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS. He's also actively enhancing his machine learning capabilities.
Apart from work, Ujwal enjoys gaming, exploring trading, and cherishing moments with family and friends.
Usha Srinivas
Senior Associate Engineer
Usha has a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Visvesvaraya College, Bangalore. Working fulltime since 2006, she has gained experience in a wide variety of projects in the field of water resources. She is a skilled hydraulic modeller with vast experience in the MIKE by DHI suite of software products as well as with HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS.

Prior to joining Land River Sea Consulting, she was a Manager in the Planning department at SECON Private Limited in Bangalore where she was responsible for Irrigation and Water Sector Projects for various clients across India.
​
Outside of office hours you’ll find her enjoying quality time with family and friends.
Charlotte Collett
Office Administrator
Charlotte works as the team administrator. She previously held positions for much larger companies, in sectors as diverse as Education, Construction and Banking, and brings a varied set of skills to the office.
​
She works behind the scenes, helping the team ensure that our current projects and activities run smoothly.
Charlotte has interests in both environmental protection and emergency management and was naturally drawn to the flood protection part of our work here at Land River Sea Consulting. When she’s not in the office, you can often find her on or near water, spending time with family or upskilling on her whale rescue training.
Rose Beagley
Water Resources Scientist / Geomorphologist
Rose grew up in Australia where she completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne. After a couple of summers spent kayaking on the West Coast of New Zealand, she fell in love with the place and its rivers, so much so that whilst completing her Master of Science in Canada at the University of British Columbia she realized she wanted to complete a research project on one of them. She returned to New Zealand to model the behaviour of the Waiho River and its network of stopbanks and hasn’t left.
​
Prior to joining Land River Sea she was the acting team leader of the Hydrology Department for the West Coast Regional Council and a Biodiversity Monitoring Ranger in Hokitika for the Department of Conservation.
Outside of office hours you’ll find her somewhere in the outdoors – tramping or running in the mountains with her dog Oslo, or in her kayak on a river.
Kaia Bishop
Environmental Engineer
Kaia completed a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours at the University of Canterbury in 2019. Prior to joining Land River Sea, she was working as an acoustic and mechanical engineer. Her passion for the natural environment lead her to pursue further post-graduate study in the field of water science and management, and subsequently pivot towards a career in water resources engineering.
Kaia is passionate about river management in New Zealand and enjoys collaborating closely with peers and clients.
Outside of uni and office hours, you’ll catch Kaia in the outdoors - either tramping, climbing or running with friends.
Saul Preshner
Graduate Water Resources Engineer
Saul completed a Masters of Engineering studies endorsed in renewable energy at the University of Canterbury in 2023. Saul's undergraduate focus was natural resources with emphasis on water treatment and management, leading him to Land River Sea.
Saul is passionate about making a difference in water management and values sustainable practices in all aspects of life. Having also lived in Hong Kong and Chile, he embraces culture and appreciates the diverse landscapes that can be seen across the world.
Outside of the office you will find Saul either on the football field or on the slopes snowboarding.
Benjamin Scott
River Engineer
Benjamin completed a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours at the University of Canterbury in 2015. Before joining Land River Sea, he worked as a River Engineer at Environment Canterbury and a Water Engineer at Calibre, where he gained experience in both public and private sectors.

Benjamin enjoys using technical analysis to solve real-world problems. He is proficient in HEC-RAS and GCD software and is actively upskilling his MIKE and GIS skills.
​
Benjamin is based in ÅŒtautahi / Christchurch in Aotearoa / New Zealand. Outside of work, you can often find him enjoying the outdoors (either packrafting, skiing or mountain biking), reading a book or tending to his garden.
Andrea Pozo Estivariz
Water Resources Engineer
Andrea grew up in Spain where she completed a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. While working as a researcher and a coastal engineer at University of Cantabria in Spain, she completed her Master of Civil Engineering. In 2021, Andrea moved to New Zealand to pursue a PhD in Water Resources Management at University of Canterbury. Her PhD is focused in developing hybrid hydrodynamic machine learning methods for real time flood prediction.

Andrea is passionate about the environment, specially about water resources management, natural hazards, and climate change adaptation. She is very excited to apply the latest innovations in research to the wide range of engineering projects the team is working on.

Outside of uni and office hours, you will find Andrea camping, playing sports or reading a book.
