Water Resources Scientist / Geomorphologist
Rose grew up in Australia where she completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne. After a couple of summers spent kayaking on the West Coast of New Zealand, she fell in love with the place and its rivers, so much so that whilst completing her Master of Science in Canada at the University of British Columbia she realized she wanted to complete a research project on one of them. She returned to New Zealand to model the behaviour of the Waiho River and its network of stopbanks and hasn’t left.
Prior to joining Land River Sea she was the acting team leader of the Hydrology Department for the West Coast Regional Council and a Biodiversity Monitoring Ranger in Hokitika for the Department of Conservation.
Outside of office hours you’ll find her somewhere in the outdoors – tramping or running in the mountains with her dog Oslo, or in her kayak on a river.
